Poetry is my means of expression and release. I find solace on pages and in between lines, hoping that my words connect with someone to let them know they are not alone in this world.

Roslyn Spencer aka Catharsis Tha Poet is President, Co- Founder, 1/8 of PowerLines Poetry, and very much a Leo. Catharsis has been performing spoken word since 2005 when she was first introduced to open mic events. She released her debut CD, “My Thoughts, My Stage My Mic” in May of 2012, which sold copies throughout Florida, Alabama, and even gained air play in New York. She competed in the 21st annual regional poetry slam, Southern Fried, in 2013 with Mobile Alabama’s first ever slam team, Mobile Speaks. In 2014 she received the Mousai Award for Best Spoken Word Collaboration, in 2019 she received the award for Best Spoken Word Artist at the Port City Secondliners Honors of Mobile Alabama, and most recently in 2022 she received the Lagniappe Award for Best Poet. She takes a very special pride in the fact that PowerLines Poetry as a whole received the Arty Award in 2019 for Best Performance Group. In addition to featuring in several shows in venues throughout the region, in 2022 she launched her mental health and wellness podcast titled "Is You Feelin Right Fine?" and released a single by the same name in order to promote finding the joy within finding inner peace and self care, streaming on all platforms.
